Characteristics:
Pure gum turpentine is extracted from the tapped resin (balsam) of pine trees. The remaining hard resin is colophonium resin, which is used by the violinist, among other things, to roughen his bow. Colophonium resin is also used in interior paints. Gum trees can be tapped for approximately 75 years, after which they provide excellent timber.
